The City’s annual street and utility reconstruction project is in the West Avenues neighborhood north of Mainstreet. Portions of 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st Avenues N and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Streets N will be reconstructed. Project Date: June
This project will repave Sweet Briar Lane, Burnes Drive, Campbell Drive, Althea Lane, Herman Terrace, and Herman Court in the Campbell Addition neighborhood. Work will include repair of broken curb, replacement of old sewer castings, and milling off the top layer of asphalt and repaving with a fresh layer. This project will rejuvenate the streets in the neighborhood and is a cost-effective way to extend the life of the pavement.

This work includes concrete repairs, barrier cable replacement, door replacements, deck and joint sealing, cleaning, and new signage. The ramp will remain in service with a limited number of parking stalls impacted at any time.
Hennepin County’s contractor resumed construction on Shady Oak Road this spring. In Hopkins remaining work includes completing sidewalk and trail construction, installation of median islands, final paving of Shady Oak Road, and restoration of boulevards. In Minnetonka the contractor will be reconstructing the frontage road along Highway 7 and also repaving Highway 7 in each direction extending away from the new Shady Oak Road intersection. This work includes minor repairs and new protective coatings on the inside and outside of both of Hopkins elevated water storage tanks.

The retaining wall along 2nd St S (the north side of Excelsior Blvd) between 12th and 13th Ave S will be replaced with a larger block retaining wall. The work will impact one westbound lane of traffic on Excelsior Boulevard.

A new, distinctively-designed picnic pavilion with restrooms will be constructed to overlook the great lawn area. Other areas of the park will not be affected by this construction.

The existing, 60-year old, drab facilities will be rehabilitated to include a new covered patio area, new restrooms and drinking fountains for park users, and new park lighting. The Oakes Park picnic shelter will also be replaced.
