The City is undertaking a wide variety of improvement projects in 2017. Read on for descriptions of the most noticeable improvements and what to expect.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017. Work throughout the neighborhood will be phased so that disturbance is limited during the construction. More information will be provided as project development progresses and updates will be provided to residents prior to the start of construction. Another public informational meeting is tentatively scheduled for this winter, invitation to this meeting will be mailed to the neighborhood weeks in advance of the meeting.
Proposed street improvements include full reconstruction with new curb and gutter throughout the project area. Some streets will not be reconstructed, but instead receive a mill and overlay treatment. This involves grinding off the top layer of the street and repaving with a fresh layer of asphalt, these streets are noted above.
Proposed water main improvements include the removal and replacement of pipes, valves, and hydrants throughout the majority of the project area. Additionally, water services will be replaced from the main to the property line.
Sanitary sewer improvements include the removal and replacement of the main, manholes and service lines to the property line.
Proposed storm sewer improvements include removal and replacement of the storm sewer main as needed. Addition of new storm sewer and inlets to reduce water ponding in the street area also proposed.
Pedestrian facilities include extension of a multi-use trail along 9th Avenue South and 7th Street South. The construction of this new trail will be funded by the Three Rivers Park District.
