The City provides weekly automated garbage collection & bi-weekly recycling collection services to all single family, duplex, triplex, and fourplex residential housing in Hopkins. The City's mandatory recycling ordinance requires all residents and businesses to recycle.

Collection routes run on a four-day schedule, Monday through Thursday. For schedule changes due to holidays, see collection schedule.

For an additional charge, the City also collects brush on Tuesdays and bulk items on Thursdays. You must call to schedule these pickups. Yard waste is collected the same day as your regular pick up, and must have a yard waste sticker attached. Between June 3 and October 3, yard waste will be collected on Thursdays only. Residents must call by 2pm on Wednesday to schedule a yard waste pick-up on Thursday. A yard waste sticker must be affixed to each bag.

Per Minnesota State Statute 115A.931, Yard Waste Prohibition: no person shall place yard waste in their mixed municipal solid waste.
