Bulk Item Drop-Off Event is April 28, 29

The City is holding its annual spring bulk item drop-off event for all Hopkins residents today, April 28, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. For a $20 fee plus taxes, you can drop off one appliance and up to three cubic yards worth of trash (the equivalent of one pick-up truckload). Shred-N-Go will also be on-site for confidential destruction of documents. Payment will be processed by card at the event. Find more information about the drop-off event. 


Step To It Challenge Begins May 1

Get out of your house and get moving after a long Minnesota winter by participating in the 2023 Step To It Challenge. Over 20 communities will compete to win prizes and be honored by Hennepin County. Learn more about the challenge and register to participate.


Free Yard Waste Pick-Up is May 1-11

Yard waste will be collected for free on your regular garbage day May 1-11. You do not need to call to schedule this pick-up. Bagged yard waste should be placed at your normal collection site at least four feet away from your garbage, organics and recycling containers. After May 11, bags will be collected on Thursdays and must display yard waste stickers, which are available for purchase at City Hall or Public Works. Application Deadline for Advancing Careers and Employment (ACE) Program is May 6

Applications are now open for the Advancing Careers and Employment (ACE) Program. ACE is a youth employment program that offers young people facing barriers to employment paid summer internship and professional development experience. Positions are available within the Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works, the Hopkins Center for the Arts, the Hopkins Activity Center, Administration, and Community Development and Inspections at $16/hour. May is National Bike Month

Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to giving biking a try. Mark your calendar for these great Bike Month events and participate if you can!

• May 1-31: Bike Month Scavenger Hunt - Search by bike for various landmarks in Hopkins and Minnetonka

• May 3: National Bike and Roll to School Day - Celebrate the joy of active commuting while building a sense of community and school spirit

• May 12-20: National Bike Week - Celebrate bikes and all the wonderful things they’ve done and continue to do for us

• May 19: National Bike to Work Day - Trade four wheels for two on your regular commute

• May 20: Mountain Bike Opener - Celebrate Bike Month and the start of the mountain bike season at Lone Lake Park
