Homestead is a classification granted to properties that are owner-occupied, lowering taxes on that property.
Here you can learn about property taxes, such as the appeals process, homestead classification, property value, special assessments and fees, and refunds and programs.
The value of your property is determined by its market value. Simply put, market value is the price that your property would sell for if placed on the open market.
Special Assessments allow Cities to charge specific properties for the cost of making a local improvement that benefits those properties.
The Assessing Department is a division within the Finance Department.
It assists property owners with Homestead classification and works with Hennepin County on property valuations. The division also prepares special assessment rolls and responds to property owner concerns.
Basic information for any property located in Hennepin County, such as market value, taxes, owner and sales data may be accessed from the Hennepin County website.
